Michelle’s research investigates how the human brain adapts to patterns and predictabilities in the world around us. These patterns might be consistent co-occurrences between different objects, such as the groups of familiar faces we encounter at work, or consistent locations of certain objects that we encounter, such as a surfboard at the beach but not at the park. Michelle’s work explores the behavioural and neural mechanisms that support this regularity learning, as well as the consequences for perception and cognition.
