Prof Martin Westwell named as 2018 ‘Alby Jones Gold Medal Award’ recipient
The South Australian Branch of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders has announced its 2018 awards, honouring “educational leaders who have made a significant contribution to education, educational leadership and the improvement of student and organisational outcomes”. This year, the pinnacle award, the Alby Jones Gold Medal was awarded to Professor Martin Westwell. The Alby Jones Gold Medal is awarded annually to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to education leadership; who is highly regarded by the broader community and who has demonstrated excellence in education.
Professor Westwell, a Chief Investigator of the Science of Learning Research Centre during his time at Flinders University, led highly impactful collaborative research that has brought about real on-the-ground change in numeracy teaching in South Australia. The SLRC congratulates Professor Westwell, a deserving recipient of this honour.
