Natalie is a PhD student in neuroscience in the lab of Professor Ross Cunnington at the Queensland Brain Institute. Natalie’s research investigates free decision-making in ecologically valid environments. Specifically, she uses virtual environments to look at how free decisions are represented in brain activity. This work highlights the level of engagement evident when individuals make their own choices, as opposed to instructed actions. Within the SLRC, her aim is to encourage education practices that promote self-motivated learning, as she sees this as an underlying approach to enhance creative and critical thinking skills.
